A week after pushed iOS 9 to the public, Apple has just released iOS 9.0.1 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch with a number of bug fixes. All users running iOS 9 should therefore update to iOS 9.0.1 for increased system stability.

iOS 9.0.1 fixes the issue where some users were getting stuck at the “Slide to Upgrade” screen while updating to iOS 9, which was quite tricky to resolve in certain cases without losing data. It also fixes an annoying issue where the alarm and timers failed to play for some users after upgrading to iOS 9.

According to the release notes, iOS 9.0.1 includes the following bug fixes :

  • Fixes an issue where some users could not complete setup assistant after updating
  • Fixes an issue where sometimes alarms and timers could fail to play
  • Fixes an issue in Safari and Photos where pausing video could cause the paused frame to appear distorted
  • Fixes an issue where some users with a custom APN setup via a profile would lose cellular data

To initiate the update, connect to iTunes and check for update via the device summary page, or use the OTA update feature on your iOS device found in Settings → General → Software Update.

If you have jailbroken your iOS device and cannot live without your favorite jailbreak apps and tweaks then it is recommended that you avoid updating to iOS 9, until a jailbreak for iOS 9 is released.
