The first purported component leak for the so called iPhone SE has been leaked by Nowhereelese. The leaked images show a barebones display assembly system for the 4-inch iPhone.
The new images seems to confirm that 3D Touch components are absent from the 4-inch device. This is consistent with rumors to date that suggest the 4-inch iPhone will incorporate Live Photo support, but not 3D Touch, which is considered a flagship feature for the iPhone 6s line.
Additionally, the inclusion of 3D Touch would have also lead to an increase in the total BOM (Bills of Material), which could have possibly led Apple to price the 4-inch iPhone higher than its current rumored price tag of $400-500.
KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that the iPhone SE will inherit Apple’s most recent hardware features found in the current-generation iPhone 6s series, such as the A9 processor with 2GB of RAM, a twelve-megapixel camera with support for Live Photos, NFC for touchless Apple Pay transactions and more.
The iPhone SE is expected to be announced during a March 21th media event.
