Apple Seeds OS X 10.11.6 Beta 5 to Developers and Public Beta Testers

Apple has just seeded the fifth beta of OS X 10.11.6 El Capitan to developers and public beta testers, one week after releasing the fourth OS X 10.11.6 beta and more than a month since the public release of OS X 10.11.5. OS X 10.11.6 has been in testing since May 23.

OS X 10.11.6, much like OS X 10.11.5 and the El Capitan updates that came before it, focuses mainly on performance improvements and bug fixes instead of obvious outward-facing changes. According to Apple’s release notes, the update improves the stability, compatibility, and security of Macs.

The latest beta version for OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 is available through the Update tab in the Mac App Store on a computer running the first beta. It’s also available through the Apple Developer Center.

For developers that want to install the new tvOS 9.2.2 beta, the fourth-generation Apple TV must be plugged into a computer with a USB-C to USB-A cable. Once the set-top box is connected to the computer, the beta software must be downloaded from iTunes and installed on the device directly.
