Nintendo has just announced that its iOS endless runner game, Super Mario Run, will be releasing on the iOS App Store on December 15th “in United States time zones” as a free download for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch with an optional $9.99 upgrade to give you unrestricted access to the game’s three modes.
Purchasing the full version of the game will unlock all the three game modes that are a part of this release. Nintendo says that it will be releasing the game to over 151 countries and regions on December 15th. It will be compatible with all iOS devices running iOS 8.0 at the very minimum.
“The wait is almost over for a Super Mario game that can be played on mobile devices,” said Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Developed under the direction of Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto, Super Mario Run brings a new take on the series’ beloved action-platforming gameplay to iPhone and iPad for the first time.”
Nintendo had first announced that it would be launching Super Mario Run for iOS at Apple’s iPhone 7 event that was held on September 7th. If you have not already, you can sign up on the App Store to be automatically notified when Super Mario Run is available for download.
