iOS 10 Now Installed on 76% of iOS Devices

Nearly four months after iOS 10 was released to the public, the operating system is installed on 76 percent of active iOS devices, This means that 76% of all active devices are now running iOS 10.0 or higher, a nice jump since late November when the adoption rate was at 63%. According to new numbers posted on Apple’s App Store support page for developers.

The pie chart also includes iOS 9 and earlier versions of the mobile platform. iOS 9, as it stands, is at 18% of active devices, while earlier iterations stand at 6%. Apple has said in the past that iOS 10 has seen the fastest adoption rate of any of its releases to date.

Around this time last year, iOS 9 was installed on 75 percent of active devices, so iOS 10 adoption rates have eclipsed iOS 9 adoption rates during the same time frame in 2016.

The boost in iOS 10 adoption is likely due to the holiday season. Millions of people received new iPhones and iPads as gifts over the last month or so, all running iOS 10 or higher. Apple is set to announce just how many new devices it sold last quarter on Tuesday, January 31.
