Coolstar has released beta 11 for Electra jailbreak tool for iOS 11 – iOS 11.1.2 as he gets ready to release the patched Cydia for iOS 11.
Citing the changelog published on the official Electra website, beta 11 of the tool contains the following changes:
- Add libjailbreak so command line tools, apps, etc. can talk to jailbreakd if needed (n_triangle_dev)
- Use XPC instead of UDP from libjailbreak and xpcproxy (n_triangle_dev)
- Use TCP instead of UDP from launchd (coolstar)
coolstar has managed to patch Cydia to get it to work on iOS 11. However, he has mentioned that beta 11 won’t include Cydia as they still need to test it thoroughly before releasing it to the public. He hasn’t provided any ETA yet, so please be patient, and avoid nagging him for a release date. It is a matter of when rather than if, which is actually great news. It is unlikely that you will be able to install paid jailbreak tweaks as purchases won’t be enabled until the official version of Cydia for iOS 11 has not been released by saurik. It is not clear if it will also include Cydia Substrate for iOS 11 as it would be required for the tweaks to work.
Electra includes the Substitute substrate, a Cydia substrate alternative, which was originally developed by Comex, so jailbreakers can install and use jailbreak tweaks that are compatible with iOS 11. It, however, does not include Cydia, so you need to install jailbreak tweaks in iOS 11 manually. However, that should be addressed soon.
Coming back to Electra beta 11, you can download the latest version of Electra IPA from the official website. You will need to use Cydia Impactor to sideload the Electra IPA and then run the process to jailbreak your iOS device. If you need help then check our tutorial on how to jailbreak iOS 11 – iOS 11.0.2 using Electra Jailbreak toolkit with step-by-step instructions.
If you had already jailbroken your iPhone or iPad using Electra Jailbreak then you can reboot your device, and sideload the latest version of the Electra IPA again with Cydia Impactor, and then re-jailbreak your iPhone or iPad with the latest version.
