As we prepare for Apple’s annual WWDC event later today, Apple has shared a new Animoji themed commercial for the Korean audiences. Posted on its official YouTube page, the ad plays Korean band HYUKOH’s “Citizen Kane.” The video features the bear emoji, accompanied by the dragon and chicken emoji respectively.
The timing of this commercial is interesting as Apple is expected to unveil a few new changes to Animoji with iOS 12. Apple originally uploaded the video on its Korean YouTube channel a couple of weeks ago. But the fact that the video has now been posted on the company’s global channel suggests that there are some significant Animoji related changes on the way. Rumors have suggested that Apple is expected to introduce a bunch of new characters and also include the ability to use Animoji during FaceTime video calls.
While Animoji was a trend started initially by Apple, fellow manufacturers have been quick to use their version of the feature in their smartphones. Samsung’s implementation, known as “AR Emoji”, is pretty much the same, although the jury is still out on whether it’s any better than Animoji, it’s certainly got people talking.
In addition to enhancing Animoji features, Apple is also expected to patch a few bugs and also bring multiplayer support for AR games.
