iOS 12 and iOS 11.4 Safari-Based Jailbreak Demoed

While we eagerly wait for coolstar to release Electra iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak, Chinese security researcher and hacker with the Twitter handle S0rryMyBad has published a demo of a web-based jailbreak for iOS 11.4 and iOS 12 beta.

The demo video shows two iPhones side by side, one running iOS 12 beta and the other running iOS 11.4, the latest iOS software update. The user visits a website, and taps on the “jailbreak go” button to initiate the jailbreak process. The jailbreak process also installs Cydia, which seems to work on iOS 11.4. As Cydia is probably not compatible with iOS 12 yet, the user has used Terminal to confirm that iOS 12 was also jailbroken successfully.

Safari-based jailbreaks are the easiest method to jailbreak your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. JailbreakMe by Comex was one of the easiest ways to jailbreak your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. All you had to do was use Safari to jailbreak your device. But web-based jailbreaks like JailbreakMe are also very rare, so kudos to SorryMyBad for developing the web-based jailbreak. It remains to be seen if he plans to release the iOS 11.4 jailbreak.

Meanwhile, we also expect coolsar to release Electra iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak soon. He has confirmed that the “Electra can fully jailbreak iOS 11.3.1”, and it is “fully” complete.
