Apple has just released macOS Sierra to the public, making the latest Mac operating system available for free to all Mac users around the world. Apple seeded eight betas of macOS Sierra and multiple versions of the golden master before its official launch.
Besides the change in naming scheme from OS X to macOS Sierra, the latest version of macOS comes with a number of new changes and enhancements.
The biggest new feature of macOS Sierra is the introduction of Siri, which was up until now available only on iOS and tvOS. Using Siri, one can quickly search for files and search for information on their Mac.
If you own an Apple Watch, macOS Sierra will automatically unlock your Mac if it detects you near your Mac.
Building on the Continuity feature that Apple first debuted with iOS 8, you can now quickly copy content from your Mac and paste it on your iPhone or iPad thanks to the universal clipboard feature. The feature works vice versa as well.
With macOS Sierra, Apple is debuting Apple Pay for the web. Using your iPhone or Apple Watch, one can quickly authorise Apple Pay transactions on the web safely and securely.
macOS Sierra comes with plenty of other useful features like Picture-in-Picture, revamped emoji, and more.
