Apple on Thursday seeded the first beta of tvOS 10.1.1 to developers for testing purposes, just days after releasing the tvOS 10.1 update and more than a month after launching tvOS 10.
It’s not yet known what new features or changes might be included in the new tvOS beta, but as a 10.1.x update, it’s likely to be minor in scale, introducing bug fixes and other performance enhancements.
tvOS 10.1.1 follows tvOS 10.1, a major update that introduced the new “TV” app, which serves as an Apple-designed television guide and TV watching hub.
Here is Apples changelog for the new beta:
“Apple TV Software Update 10.1
TV app: Discover new content or pick up where you left off in a current show or movie—all in one unified place. The TV app brings together all your shows and movies from services that you subscribe to, plus your purchases from iTunes. This feature is available only in the United States for Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
Additional: This update also includes general performance and stability improvements”
To update, developers must have their Apple TV connected to their computer running iTunes via a USB Type-C to USB-A cable. The software can then be downloaded and installed to the Apple TV 4 running tvOS through iTunes or the Apple Configurator. Once that initial beta software has been installed, all subsequent seeds can be downloaded as over-the-air updates.
If any additional forward-facing change are discovered, we’ll update this post accordingly.
