Ahead of its scheduled December 15 debut, Nintendo’s America president Reggie Fils-Aime announced while on the The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon that playable demos of Super Mario Run will be available on all iOS devices across Apple’s retail stores in the world starting from today.
“I feel like Mario was what introduced millions of people to video games and interactive entertainment, and I think that Mario will continue to serve that role,” Miyamoto told The Verge. “And I think with Super Mario Run that’s exactly what’s going to happen.”
This is the first time that any company has teamed up with Apple to offer playable demos of its game or app on the display devices that Apple has in its stores.
From the gameplay video above, it’s clear that Super Mario Run has a gameplay that is similar to many other runner-based games available on the store. However, as per Engadget, the game features a level of depth and polish that very few games in the App Store have. This makes Super Mario Run fun to play and even justifies its high $9.99 cost. Nintendo will also be offering a free version of the game that will come unlocked with the first three levels and a few Toad Rallies.
Super Mario Run from Nintendo is all set to make its debut on the iOS App Store on December 15th. You can sign up on the Super Mario Run page on the App Store to be automatically notified when the game is available for download in your region.
