Ever since Ian Beer announced plans to release the kernel exploit for iOS 11.3.1, and coolstar confirmed he will update Electra Jailbreak for iOS 11.3.1, I am sure many of you have been eagerly waiting for Electra iOS 11.3.1.
We have been waiting for it as well, and have been closely following the progress. Here is a quick update about Electra iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak:
As promised, Ian Beer of Google’s Project Zero team released the iOS 11.3.1 kernel exploit on June 5th. Coolstar has said that he has “got all the pieces collected” and has already started working on using Ian Beer’s kernel exploit to update Electra Jailbreak to add support for iOS 11.3.1 – iOS 11.2. The popular jailbreak tool currently supports iOS 11 – iOS 11.1.2.
Coolstar had initially indicated that the iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak may use more storage space but has later clarified that he might be able to lower the storage space required for the jailbreak.
16 GB device users may want to upgrade to higher storage due to how the upcoming jailbreak may work

The increase in storage space seems to be due to the change in the jailbreak method that coolstar is using for iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak. The good news is that Electra iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak won’t trigger jailbreak detection in non-jailbroken state. Coolstar has revealed that “rootfs changes are reverted on reboot” which would provide jailbreakers a workaround to use apps like Fortnite, banking apps as most forms of jailbreak detection won’t work in unjailbroken state with the new method used in Electra iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak.
Update: we might be able to lower disk size of 11.3 jailbreak. More research incoming
All mods outside of things installed from Cydia/dpkg/apt will be deleted on reboot.
Most forms of jailbreak detection will no longer work in unjailbroken state (e.g. Fortnite, bank apps, etc.)

Coolstar has also indicated that we may need an Apple Developer account to use iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak but he has recommended not to get a developer account just yet.
Just an hour ago, Coolstar published an update in which he confirmed that his tools works fine on iOS 11.2, He pointed out that users of this version (tested on iOS 11.2-11.22) will not be affected by the storage issue.
Just tested on 11.2 and looks like 11.2 – 11.2.2 users at least (will check 11.2.5/11.2.6 later) will not have the filesystem issues that 11.3.x will have

He hasn’t provided a release date for Electra iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak. But recent tweets give the impression that we are in the final stages, we expect the iOS 11.3.1 – 11.2 Electra jailbreak to be released at any moment during the week. As always, we will keep you informed as and when anything additional happens or when any progress is made.
