As rumors ramp up regarding Apple’s upcoming flagship, The first possible real photo of the iPhone 7 Plus has surfaced on Chinese website Bastille Post, providing a closer look at the design of the upcoming smartphone.
The image, which you can see above, shows off a design that’s similar to what we’ve seen in previous leaks, with the rearranged antenna lines so they’re not so obvious, offering a much sleeker rear panel. According to a report from Bastille Post, this is an image of the iPhone 7 Plus out in the wild, showcasing not only the dual-camera system on the back, but also something else interesting: Smart Connector.
The dual-lens camera is accompanied by a microphone and an LED flash, as seen on previous iPhones, while the antenna bands have been repositioned along the top and bottom edges of the smartphone.
Near the bottom of the device, just blurry enough to be frustrating, are three dots, which are now being speculated as a Smart Connector for the device. The Smart Connector made its debut on the iPad Pro, which allows accessories like the Smart Keyboard from Apple to connect to the larger iPad. What the Smart Connector can be used for on the iPhone, even one with a 5.5-inch display, remains to be seen. Though, a charging dock might not be hard to imagine.
Working from past experience and the design of the phone shown in the leaked photo, aftermarket iPhone modification company Feld & Volk is already preparing its own custom versions of the device and has created several renderings that give a higher quality view of what the new iPhone would look like assuming this design is accurate.
The overall look and feel of the iPhone 7 Plus chassis shown in today’s leaked photo is largely consistent with both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s lineups, including a unibody aluminum shell, pill-shaped volume buttons, a mute switch, and side-facing power button.
Apple is holding a media event on March 21 and the press is expecting to see a brand new four-inch iPhone SE model, a smaller 9.7-inch iPad Pro, new Apple Watch bands and possibly other product updates and announcements.
