iPhone 7 Running iOS 10 Gets Jailbroken

Italian jailbreaker Luca Todesco has successfully jailbroken iPhone 7 after the iOS 10 is officially released for public. The well known hacker has shared photos of his iPhone 7 running Cydia on iOS 10. This is not the first time Tedesco has shown off a jailbroken iOS 10 device, however this is the first time ever an iPhone 7 has been seen in this state. This particular jailbreaker has a history of keeping his jailbreaks to himself so we don’t expect him doing anything differently this time around, however this achievement should be seen as a positive development for the jailbreak community.

The kernel patch protection (KPP) on the device is reportedly a “new generation” of sorts that traps all writes from the kernel inside of its memory controller for improved security. What’s more is caches from the iOS 10 kernel on the device are reportedly using some kind of all-new compression algorithm. The kernel remains unencrypted.

A few Tweets later, Todesco shared what can be made out as the new iPhone 7 with Cydia running on the device. Both iPhone 9,3 and iOS 10.0.1 are clearly seen at the bottom of the app in the photograph.

Todesco already showed off a working jailbreak on iOS 10 that he’s calling yaluX not too long ago, and it’s one of the hardest jailbreaks to create so far since Apple‘s KPP is designed to panic when something looks out of the ordinary on the device.

Now that we know iPhone 7 and mostly probably iPhone 7 Plus can be jailbreaked on iOS 10.0.1, it is only a matter of time when someone else will be able to release an iOS 10 public jailbreak for everyone. This is particularly a good news for iPhone 7 users who can rest assured that whenever a jailbreak is released, it will feature support for their device.

While it is highly unlikely that he will release a tool to jailbreak iPhone 7 running on iOS 10, it gives us hopes that Pangu or TaiG team will release a jailbreak for iOS 10 which will also support iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. As always, we’ll let you know as soon as we get any further details about the iOS 10 and iPhone 7 jailbreak.
