Coolstar Provides an Update on Electra iOS 11 Jailbreak

Coolstar, the developer of popular jailbreak tool, Electra iOS 11 jailbreak, had gone silent on Twitter. He was upset that a tweak developer had leaked Electra iOS 11 Jailbreak with Cydia which he had provided for testing before releasing it to the public.

He had also said that the iOS 11 jailbreak was the last jailbreak he was planning to work on. So jailbreakers have been worried that he has quit the jailbreak scene.

However, the good news is that coolstar hasn’t quit the jailbreak scene, he had just stopped using Twitter or taking a break from it. Though he seems to be back as he has tweeted twice in the last few hours. He is now providing updates on his site. He is still planning to release the much awaited Electra iOS 11 Jailbreak with Cydia.

He has provided the following update about the Electra Jailbreak with Cydia for iOS 11:

Original public release date estimate was actually 2/20/2018, however it has been delayed since we now have to deal with potential bugs people could have as RC 1.2 had known bugs that are not easily automatically fixable without a restore.

(No, not disclosing the new estimated date as I don’t know when I plan on getting back to working on it; taking a break for now)

People complaining really takes the fun out of making Electra .

(Which was why I orignally started working on Electra, since I found it fun)

He had provided this update on Feb 19. He has provided another update yesterday to clarify the misconceptions people have about him putting DRM in Electra iOS 11 jailbreak with Cydia to prevent those who had installed the leaked IPA from installing the stable version of Electra iOS 11 jailbreak with Cydia.

Apparently people on /r/jailbreak really love to call whatever they don’t like “DRM”
(and get massive upvotes doing so)

So something I’ve been considering doing is removing all of the safety checks “DRM” (as reddit calls it)
on Electra’s final release and letting people who didn’t have a clean device get a screwed up
and completely unusable Cydia installation as Electra attempts to install itself on top of
topanga/whatever the user had before (which obviously doesn’t work, due to intricacies in our symlinks)

But surely people on reddit must know more than the developer as these checks are totally “DRM”… can’t be wrong with 300 upvotes right?
</rant>

(Btw. found a bug in our Cydia setup today that will cause Cydia to stop working randomly at some point on everyone’s devices if they installed the leaked RC 1.2 build, so if you did that… good luck)

As I have said previously, coolstar will release Electra Jailbreak with Cydia for iOS 11 when it is ready. So avoid asking him for an ETA. As always, we will let you know as soon as there is an update.
