Apple Releases macOS High Sierra 10.13.5

Apple today released macOS High Sierra 10.13.5 to the public. macOS High Sierra 10.13.5 comes more than two months after the release of macOS High Sierra 10.13.4, which introduced eGPU support, Business Chat in Messages, and more.

The update to macOS High Sierra 10.13.5 is a minor one, adding only one major forward-facing end user feature to the mix. Apple is finally bringing “Messages on iCloud” to market, after initially announcing it last year. The feature will help reduce iMessages’ impact on your iPhone’s built-in storage by storing attachments and photos in iCloud. It also means that all of your iMessages will automatically show up on any new Apple device that supports the messaging service. The feature also keeps up with deleted messages, which will sync to all your devices — so no more having to delete a conversation per device.

Otherwise, macOS High Sierra 10.13.5 is a pretty quiet affair, as far as new software is concerned. Still, adding Messages on iCloud to the mix is a “better late than never” situation, for sure. Now that it is finally rolling out, this should make the already great iMessage experience even better.

To download and install the new update, supported Mac owners need to open the Mac App Store, click on the Updates tab, and then select “Install” next to the macOS High Sierra update description. It is possible that the new software will take some time to download and install, so make sure to carve out several minutes before you start the process.

macOS High Sierra 10.13.5 is now available to download and install. Are you planning on updating right away?
